I just finished reading the book: The Heavenly Man, the story of Brother Christian Yun; he was a house-church leader in China (now exiled in Germany), who endured amazing amounts of persecution and torture for the name of Christ. While experiencing the “sufferings of Christ,” Yun and his family also experienced the comfort of the Lord, many times in truly miraculous ways. I want to recommend this book for all my “Western world” brothers and sisters in Christ. His perspective, and the perspective gained from this book (eternal) are convicting; which is really to make an understatement.
If you haven’t read this book yet, pick it up and read it (it’s what they call “a page turner”). Here’s how Yun closes the book:
If you hear I have been called home to heaven, please go on in my place with the gospel, preaching and discipling the people groups of the world until Jesus comes again.
My Lord Jesus is the most wonderful friend you can ever have. He has been so loving, patient and kind to me over so many years and through so many valleys.
Many people have said to me, “Yun, you must really love Jesus,” You need to realize that any love I have in my heart for Jesus is only because of his love for me. “We love because he first loved us,” 1 John 4:19. ~Christian Brother Yun
