Welcome to the reopening of this blog, this blog will be a place where I reflect on theology, biblical studies, devotional stuff, and whatever else might come up.
I am still here, this blog has slowed down, due to my other blog and a project I am working on; I still will be posting here, though, obviously, just not as frequently in the past. I do like to talk about other stuff besides “Calvinism,” though 😉 . Be on the look out, there should be some new posts here as soon as tomorrow.
I am going to take a hiatus from this blog; for the foreseeable future I am going to devote all of my “blogging time” to my other blog The Evangelical Calvinist. I’m sure at some point I’ll return to this blog, I just think my heart is more in tune with the trajectory of my other blog — I think it is more fruitful. I’ll let you know when I might return to this blog. If you want to read what I’m blogging about though you’ll have to visit me @:
See you there . . .
. . . I do have another blog I am running for all those interested. It’s still a theo-blog, its content and thinking are just going to be different than this one. So whether this one “Pure Milk” or that one “Systematic Theologia” is your preference, I hope to hear from you. In other words, I am running two blogs concurrently. See you here or there! Oh here is the new blog address and link:
Welcome back to the new and improved “The Stumbling Block,” now known as “Pure Milk.” I will resume posting, shortly . . .
This blog has lived a good life, but it has kind’ve gone in a direction that was un-intended. When I originally started blogging (approx. 4 yrs ago) my intention was to distill ‘high-theology talk’ into terms that regular everyday thoughtful Christians could understand. It seems that I have lost sight of that intention, and instead have engaged in a style of blogging that seemingly only a few can appreciate (or want to); my style has become very very academic (which isn’t inherently evil, it’s just not the way I want to blog anymore), providing quotes, with little clarifying explanation — well that is now changing!
Since this blog is associated with a certain style I thought it best to completely change blog names, and even blog hosts which will help signal a change in my approach. I really appreciate all of you who have read here, and commented here; I’m not done blogging just changing my style a little, so if you want to continue the dialogue follow me over to my new and improved blog:
I am not going to delete this blog, but I will be closing comments . . . but as far as this blog being “active,” consider it “inactive” (this will no longer be my working blog — so if you want to read my “stuff” then head over to “Pure Milk”). I look forward to this new direction, and I hope I’ll see you all over at my new blog!
I have also started another blog (separate from my new one ‘Pure Milk’), and it is in the vein of the kind of content I have been posting here for so long. If you’re interested in that kind of stuff you can find that at:
If un-interested in ‘that kind of stuff’, then by all means come over to my site Pure Milk.
See you somewhere 😉 !
Okay, that’s enough of that . . . I’m never any good at taking blog breaks, I should know better than to put a time frame on announced breaks — or better, I should know not to even announce breaks, by now 🙂 . Anyway, I am back, you can expect posting to once again ensue; starting with this one here.
I am going to take a break from blogging, for at least the next few weeks to a month. I just need time off from the computer, in general, and the blog, in particular. During this interim, I am going to disable commenting so I don’t have to worry about “spammers” in my abscence. See ya when I get back 🙂 . . .
What do you all think about my blog “header” (the picture)? I really like it, because it conveys and captures the title of my blog well — The Stumbling Block. Beyond that, it has Luther pointing to the cross of Christ, which again resonates deeply with me . . . Luther’s theologia crucis (‘theology of the cross’) has been very impactful, and continues to be, upon my life as a Christian. But sometimes I find myself conflicted, in the sense that this picture has Jesus on the cross, being crucified . . . this is rather “crucifixy,” but theologically this is not my intention for its usage. Anyway, what do you all think about this banner header? Does the imaging of Jesus on the cross pose problems for you?
Listen, I know I am a weirdo, when it comes to my templates . . . I’m a bit of perfectionist, obviously, with a touch of OCD ;-). Anyway, I want a little feedback. Do you all like this template? I really like this black template, my only fear is that it is hard to read. Let me know, what you think? I want to provide more continuity, in this regard!
I have started another blog, for personal reasons, but I thought I would share the link, for anyone interested. This is still my primary blog, so don’t go anywhere! The purpose of this other blog is to hopefully serve as an encouragement for a few close family members (specifically one) who are struggling with issues surrounding salvation. I am currently separated from them, by space (about a 1000 miles), thus the need for something like this (of course phone calls work, but sometimes aren’t as “objective” or “coherent” as the written form). Basically this blog is going to be focused on issues surrounding assurance of salvation, which will ultimately take us to discussing the life of God. Since this blog will be uniquely dedicated to encouraging a family member (or two), it will not be a place for polemics, nor necessarily a place for “academic” discussion (i.e. the audience). Given the nature of this new blog, I will have “comment moderation” engaged, and will only allow comments or questions that I think will help foster good “critical” fruitful discussion; that in the end will help serve the goal of encouragement. In other words, it will be open for comment, but it will be completely at my discretion if I think it will serve to edify. There will be no debating on this blog (like I said no polemics), that is all reserved for this blog. If I post something over there, and you want to disagree with me, then email me. Remember this new blog has a few people in mind, the reason I wanted to point you to it, is because maybe these few people I am thinking of might include concerns or struggles you deal with in this regard.
